Wheel Bearing Woes

The new Snetterton 300 circuit in Norfolk was the latest challenge for the APO Sport team to tackle with it being a compeltely new and unknown circuit.

The saturday provided mixed conditions for the warm up with one half being wet and the other dry and team set the second quickest time. However saturday's qualifying was a short affair as the car only managed eleven laps before a bolt sheered in the end of the driveshaft. However the time set earlier on in the session on old tyres still was good enough for 3rd in class.

The race on sunday got underway in warm conditions and  at the end of the first lap James May was sitting second in class and the leading two started to pull away from the rest of the class. However as the race progressed further a vibration developed and only got continually worse, yet Alex Osborne now in the car and well into the second half of the race still sat in 2nd place and all was looking good for another good points haul and result. But with two laps remaining of the race the wheel bearing finally gave way and put to bed all chances of a podium finish. Due to other non finishers the team still classified 6th in class and still took good points away with them.

With one points scoring round left at Brands Hatch in November the team will head into the last race with a 3 point lead in the championship and all to play for in the final race thriller. However the next challenge is the 24 hour race at Silverstone at the end of september, where the team will be hoping to last the distance and go for the win.
